Dr. Ashley Bourgeois is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist passionate about providing practical knowledge to general practitioners to help itchy pets! She completed her bachelor’s degree at Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She then completed a one-year small animal internship at Purdue University. Upon finishing her internship, she accepted a residency position with the Animal Dermatology Clinic’s Tustin, California location in 2011. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 2014. Dr. Bourgeois moved to Portland, Oregon in 2016 to help expand the company. She is an owner within the company and on the board of directors. She has a strong interest in autoimmune skin diseases, allergies, cytology, and otology. In her leisure time, Dr. Bourgeois enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and watching sports. She and her husband stay busy with their daughter, son, and rescue Lab/Boxer/Pit mix. Dr. Bourgeois is passionate about educating veterinarians in dermatology and work/life integration through her podcast, lecturing, and social media presence (The Derm Vet).
Dr. Pachel is the owner and lead clinician at the Animal Behavior Clinic in Portland, OR. He received his veterinary degree from the University of MN in 2002 and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists in 2010. He has operated house-call, office-based, and telemedicine-focused behavior practices. Dr. Pachel lectures throughout the world, teaches courses annually at multiple veterinary schools in the US, and has authored articles and book chapters on topics such as Intercat aggression, Behavioral Euthanasia, and Pet selection for animal- assisted therapy. He is a sought-after expert witness for legal cases involving animal behavior and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for dvm360. Dr. Pachel is a Vice- president of Veterinary Behavior on the executive leadership team for the Instinct Dog Behavior and Training franchise, as well as co-owner of Instinct Dog Behavior and Training Portland. Dr. Pachel is also a specialist consultant for Dutch Pet (a veterinary telemedicine platform), a veterinary behavior expert for The Vets (a nationwide housecall-based veterinary care provider), and a veterinary behavior expert for AnyQuestion (an app-based information service launched in 2022).
In his spare time away from the office, Dr. Pachel enjoys distance running, strength training, yoga, and calisthenics. He is a supporter of beer festivals, wineries, and the Portland food scene and is always looking for new recommendations for places to visit. He shares his home with his husband, Robert (who happens to be a veterinarian as well), and a Bull Terrier mixed-breed dog named Corneliuz.
Sarah Beatty is originally from Florida, USA and completed her veterinary degree at the University of Florida in 2011. Her desire to continue practicing multispecies medicine and solving diagnostic challenges led her to the field of clinical pathology. She completed a residency and became a board-certified Diplomate in 2014. Sarah joined the Antech team in early 2021 as a digital pathologist, with special interests and expertise in avian, exotics, and large animal/equine clinical pathology. She enjoys being a part of the diagnostic team by consulting with veterinarians on routine and challenging cases for all species.
Prior to joining Antech, Sarah spent 7 years as a faculty member at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine where she was active in diagnostic case work with a high oncology and exotics caseload, scholarly work, and teaching and instruction including the receipt of numerous teaching awards. She is an active member of ACVP, ASVCP (past Treasurer), VLA (current board member), and her local VMA. She resides in Florida, USA with her spouse and children and enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and gardening. Her family is completed by their miniature schnauzer and Congo African Grey Parrot.
Veterinary Ophthalmologist Dr. Robert J. Munger received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University in 1973. After an internship in Large
Animal Medicine and Surgery and a year of residency in Large Animal Medicine, he completed his residency in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1978. He founded the Animal Ophthalmology Clinic in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in 1978.
Dr. Munger interrupted his practice in 1979 to join the faculty of the University of Tennessee Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Knoxville. While serving as an assistant professor of ophthalmology, Dr. Munger worked with the Department of Urban Practice (small and large animals) where he was the veterinary ophthalmologist for all animals. He taught veterinary ophthalmology from 1979 to 1983. He returned to private practice in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1983.
