Itinerary SVMA Winter Meeting – Sun Peaks

CE Sessions – Monday to Thursday

  • Held in the mornings with a full hot breakfast provided
  • 2 sessions/day, lasting from 7-9 am and 4-6 pm
  • Sixteen hours (16) of RACE-approved CE include:
    • Michelle Evason, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), MRCVS
    • Sonya Gordon DVM, DVSc, DACVIM (cardiology)
  • A great way to earn CE credits while still enjoying the mountain

Arrival Day – Saturday, January 24

Welcome Reception

A light meal/heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served in a relaxed venue, perfect for reconnecting with your fellow SVMA-ers.

Highlights include:

  • Meet our Sun Peaks hosts
  • Sign-ups for mountain tours and other activities
  • Special guests:
    • The Mayor of Sun Peaks
    • Nancy Greene, former Olympic skier and Canadian senator

Karnival – Sunday Night, January 25

Costumed Dinner Dance – the first official event of the week! This year’s theme: “Come as your favorite TV commercial character.” From Ronald McDonald to Flo to Mayhem, cartoon or live action, the options are endless. General silliness is not just allowed—it’s encouraged.

Free – Monday night, January 26

Fun Race – Tuesday Morning, January 27

  • A skier-friendly mountain mixer, including gathering for lunch
  • Non-skiers are welcome to join us for lunch.
  • Always a great time and a perfect way to enjoy the slopes together.

Membership Meeting – Tuesday Night, January 27

Our annual business meeting.

  • A short meeting to bring SVMA members up-to-speed with the organization
  • Snacks will be provided, and the rest of the evening will be free for dinner on your own.

Anniversary Banquet – Wednesday Night, January 28

Our closing dinner dance celebrates the week’s highlights.

Includes:

  • Award presentations (including the infamous ‘Tail Ender’ )
  • Selection of next year’s Karnival Prince & Princess
  • The ‘passing of the ski pole’ to next year’s president

Attire: Due to popular demand…this is a ‘dress-up’ event. Business casual is encouraged (formal not required)

Farewell Reception – Final Night, January 29

A light meal and time to share memories, laughs, and make plans for future SVMA adventures.

  • For those staying beyond the official meeting dates, it’s a great chance to make plans to continue the fun.

Stubes – Daily Apres Ski Gatherings

Held each afternoon just before CE, these casual meetups are a time to unwind and connect—while swapping stories of epic runs (or epic wipeouts!).

Shoulder Days – Extra Time to Play!

Sun Peaks has extended discounted room rates:

  • Before the meeting: January 22–23
  • After the meeting: January 30-31
